Lungz Makaula
Midwest Regional Development officer
Lungz Makaula serves as the Regional Director of Donor and Board Advancement, providing leadership in advancement strategy, major donor engagement, and the development of sustainable funding models that support long-term mission impact. He oversees a significant regional development portfolio and works closely with leaders, donors, and partners to cast vision, cultivate generosity, and strengthen FCA’s capacity to reach the next generation.
Lungz brings more than two decades of cross-continental ministry, organizational leadership, and philanthropic strategy to his role. He began his professional career with Ernst and Young in Risk Advisory, where he developed a strong foundation in organizational systems, operational integrity, and large-scale stakeholder engagement - capabilities that continues to shape his leadership across ministry and nonprofit environments.
His life and calling have taken him across three countries - Africa, Australia, and North America - forming in him a deep cultural intelligence and firsthand understanding of the complexities of leading in secular, diverse, global cities. Lungz served in pastoral and leadership roles in Sydney, Australia, before relocating to the United States, where he planted and leds a gospel-centered church in the Chicago/Evanston region.
In addition to pastoral leadership, Lungz has held senior roles within global nonprofit and philanthropic ecosystem. He has led major donor engagement and strategic development across a multi-million-dollar philanthropic region, cultivated international partnerships, and served with World Vision International, supporting global initiatives, vision trips, and projects throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Lungz and his wife, Kristin, have four children. Their family’s story-spanning continents, cultures, and urban centers - reflects the global mission they serve together. Lungz enjoys teaching, mentoring leaders, global travel, and spending time on the golf course.
